NaBloPoMo: Day 9
Yesterday I was sitting in a cafe, drinking tea, and flipping through Seventeen magazine.
Looking at the pictures, skimming the articles… It made me think.
Yeah, you have probably heard this before. But I have to say it one more time.
In today’s society of the USA, women and girls are valued as sex objects… Before anything else. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the television. Flip the dial to a popular show. Notice most of the women on there are in their 20’s and 30’s. Now flip to the news. If there are any female newscasters, they are most likely wearing something that shows a lot of skin. Not that that is bad, it’s just… Hey lady, you just objectified yourself. It could be worse. Females could be valued as less than sex objects. But think. It could be so much better. There is almost no limit to how much better we could make it, if we only tried. Remember… All that it takes for bad things to happen is for good people to do nothing. Also remember… What you surround yourself will all become ingredients into you.
So you’re probably a good person. Most are. Reading this post was a step in the right direction. Good job! What else could you do?
For one thing, the media is a living hell. Really, it is. So why don’t you stop reading the racy magazines, listening to the objectifying music, before they infect you with the bug that is the curse of a patriarchal society?
I must dash. Stay strong and make the right descisions.
